Client has invited developers to express an interest by 31 March 2020 in a planned public-private partnership (PPP) hospital project. The planned Al-Ansar Hospital PPP project will have 90 emergency beds and 150 in-patient beds. The planned scheme will replace the existing Al-Ansar Hospital in Medina and “significantly expand the services available to the pilgrims. The project will cover the design, build, equipment procurement, and operations and maintenance (O&M) of the hospital. The O&M element excludes the provision of clinical operations. The Al-Ansar Hospital PPP serves as the kingdom’s pilot healthcare PPP project, which will be procured under the auspices of the National Centre for Privatisation.

Saudi Arabia’s Health Ministry, through the National Centre for Privatisation and PPP (NCP), has received interest from 86 firms for the contract to develop a planned public-private partnership (PPP) hospital project. The interested firms include engineering consultants, building contractors, healthcare equipment manufacturers, banks, and operation and maintenance (O&M) companies. There were 40 local firms that expressed interest in the project, with the rest headquartered in other GCC states (10), China (4), Egypt (2), France (4), Germany (2), India (2), the Netherlands (3), South Korea (5), Spain (2), the UK (3) and the US (5). One company each from Canada, Singapore, Japan, Greece and Turkey also expressed interest in the scheme.
