Local developer Amaala has invited firms to submit a statement of qualification (SOQ) until mid-June 2021. France-based Engie and the local Acwa Power are among the firms that might seek to prequalify to bid for the contract.
Client has started receiving statements of qualification (SOQs) for the contract. Local utilities developer Acwa Power has submitted an SOQ, with two more firms expected to do so over the coming days.
Two more firms are understood to have submitted a statement of qualification (SoQ) for the contract to develop the utilities package. Alfanar, another local utilities developer, and the UAE-based Masdar have each submitted the SoQ.
The intended scope of the project covers:
112MW-142MW of renewable energy capacity, expandable to up to 273MW
Seawater reverse osmosis (RO) plant with a peak capacity of 50,000-69,400 cubic metres a day (cm/d), expandable to up to 143,000 cm/d
Waste management facility that has an initial capacity to treat 55 tonnes a day (t/d), expandable to 96 t/d
District cooling with an initial capacity of 40,000 refrigerated tonnes (TR), expandable to 72,500 RT
Sewage treatment plant (STP) with an initial capacity of 7,750cm/d, expandable to up to 15,600 cm/d .
