Client has announced plans to develop this project, home to the world's largest coral garden. Designed by renowned firms Gensler, Gio Forma, RBTA, and SWA, the island will include the world’s largest coral garden, a marina, hotels, villas, a beach club, a museum, and a research centre. The museum will even be located underwater providing visitors with a unique and immersive experience. The floating marina will have 43 berths and two airplane docks, while the hotels will range from a standalone 200-metre-high hotel with 300 keys to smaller boutique hotels with 60 to 70 keys.
The coral garden is the centrepiece of the project and is part of NEOM’s commitment to developing in harmony with nature and creating a sustainable relationship between people and the planet. On completion, the coral reef scape will provide a research and development opportunity for coral preservation and attract international scientists, researchers, and eco-conscious travellers. The coral nurseries will be the world’s first and largest repository for Red Sea species, utilising KAUST's Maritechture Technologies developed by scientists at the university's Red Sea Research Center and Coastal and Marine Resources Core Lab. This innovative technology addresses the most challenging aspects of marine restoration and is set to benefit the region for generations to come.
Project is currently under design stage.
Client has appointed Archirodon to carry out the early infrastructure works. The contract award is part of a framework for constructing infrastructure for 12 islands at NEOM.
