Neom plans to host a site visit early next week as tendering advances for the estimated 32 kilometres of tunnels. Contractors have been invited to attend a site tour on 18 September, 2021. The package is likely to be split unequally into five sub-packages that cover the construction of the tunnels, which form part of the 170km infrastructure backbone of The Line. Local and international contractors have partnered up to bid on the project, with foreign bidders expected to include companies from China, India, Italy and South Korea.
Client has invited firms to bid for the contract to build the tunnels by 30 December 2021. The 31-kilometre tunnels form part of the 170-kilometre infrastructure backbone of the Line project which will be used by trains.
Prequalification work is understood to be ongoing for the tunnelling works tender.
